Weekend Pictures
The first picture is of David at the festival Saturday night.
Then there is a picture of David's first pedicure and of his second. :)
The ferris wheel is in an area called American Village. It is a shopping area close to three military bases. The ferris wheel is an important landmark because the streets here are numbered instead of named. So you could live on S-3986. Very few streets have signs that identify the street, because of this Americans use landmarks to give directions: go to the ferris wheel make a left look for the tall pink building turn right at the second coke machine. :)
Rikki's Rambling Weekend
We had a very uneventful week this week. I was sick from another MRSA infection and spent most of the week in bed and at the doctors office. The good news is by Friday my temperature was down and I was ready to get out and have fun.
Friday evening David and I enjoyed dinner at a Mongolian Bar-B-Que place and then went to a movie on base. We had an hour to kill before the movie so we went into a local grocery store to look around. They had Prego Spaghetti Sauce right next to fish flakes on the shelf. :)Speaking of fish flakes they serve pizza here with fish flakes on top. It has a very interesting flavor. By interesting I mean disgusting. :)
Saturday David and a bunch of guys from work went to a zip line park. David enjoyed flying through the air. (Someone took pictures so hopefully I will be able to post them soon.) Saturday morning while David pretended to be Spiderman I went to local markets and walked around with a girlfriend. That afternoon we enjoyed time with our friends at a festival. David played games and we watched the local entertainment. (There are some phenomenal dancers over here.)
Sunday brought about a normal day fill with errands. I took David to get his first fish pedicure, he enjoyed it so much he made his buddies go with him to get one after we finished dinner. Dinner consisted of a delicious curry meal. The people here eat curry an average of 185 days a year,so there are a lot of curry restaurants around.
We are enjoying living over here and getting to experience new things even the things that are less than enjoyable ( fish flakes LOL) we still love the experience. A group of guys that David has become close to are getting ready to deploy soon. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Random Pictures
The picture of the feet is of me getting a fish pedicure. The little fish bite the dead skin off of your feet. It feels super funny and is amazing how well it works. I've had three in the last couple weeks :) The other pictures are of this odd drink that is sealed with a marble.(What can I say i'm easily assumed).
Walk on Torii Beach
These are pictures from a walk on the beach. If you look really close you can see the things that live inside of the shells. I know the sea glass is just broken bottles but I love it... so I brought some home. The picture of the sky is for my mom(made me think of Mike.. thought you might want to see)

McDonalds and Starbucks
We have had another wonderful week in Okinawa. This weekend we enjoyed a trip to the 100 Yen Store. It's kind of like the dollar store but MUCH cooler. We also went to a friends house to celebrate the birthday of two guys David works with. We had a great time. Tomorrow we are attending another birthday party and hoping to make it to the beach. As many of you know we have a Halloween party every year. Since everyone will have to order their costumes or find something around their house the planning for this year has already started. Here is a picture of the invitation so far.
This week I ate at McDonald's for the first time, it wasn't nearly as greasy as McDonalds is back in the states. The women who work there wore nice skirts and very professional looking shirts. They also have Starbucks here, which just confirms that McDonalds and Starbucks are EVERYWHERE. They speak excellent English at Starbucks as long as you stick to exactly what the menu says and don't ask any questions lol David found this out the hard way. Next weekend we are going to a bull fight. I AM SO EXCITED. We hope all of you have a wonderful week and would love to hear from you. Love you!!!!

Funny because we don't have cable ????
This is a video going around facebook over here. Everyone thinks it's hilarious. I can't decide if it really is or if it is because we live on an island and are easily amused. Either way the beginning of the video has some really good pictures of the island. The song repeats itself a lot so once the people start dancing in the street ..it's pretty much over. Just thought I would share.

Notice the small mirrors on the left side of the picture. Those are a drivers best friend. Some of the roads are VERY narrow and only one car can pass at a time but you can't see the car so these mirrors help.
Random picture of the beach.
Family Mart -- which is like Seven 11 has the BEST spicy chicken they also have sushi. We call it gas station sushi. It's pretty good. Who knew???
Labor Day Weekend
Our weekend hasn't gone as planned due to the weather. Within the last week we have had one typhoon and one tropical storm pass over the island...the last two days it has rained ALL day. The good news is that it is a long weekend and David has off Monday and Tuesday. So we still have two more days to squeeze in some fun in the sun. Today we got stuff for us to go snorkeling tomorrow..hopefully the sun shines! We also went to a little craft show on base and out to dinner at a place called Arin Krin with my friend Carrie and her family. Carrie has been an amazing friend since I arrived here on the island. I actually met her in a store on base and we hit it off right away. She has been my tour guide and information desk!
Tonight Carrie and her family (along with some other friends) took us to eat at Arin Krin aka the Garlic House and it was great!!! If you come to visit me you can expect to eat dinner here. Everyone ordered a couple dishes and then we passed them around the table we enjoyed chicken (with amazing sauce) fries ( with the same sauce), corn soup, taco pizza, garlic pasta and much much more. It was great the staff were super friendly and helpful and understood English. -always a plus when dining in Okinawa.
We are planning a month full of exciting adventures. We are going to a local festival next weekend along with a friends birthday party. The following weekend we hope to attend a bull fight--- I am super excited about this. On the 22nd I am going to a village Tug of War with girlfriends ( David has to work :( The last weekend of the month we hope to go on a Farm and Fish tour. Which will show us the best places to get local/inexpensive/fresh food!!
We love all of you and miss you and hope to hear from you soon !!!!
